Policy
The company will grant employees time off to fulfill annual Active Duty for Training obligations in the Armed Forces Reserves or the National Guard, and other time off to fulfill military obligations as required by law.
Duration of Leave
Military leave for annual Active Duty for Training will not exceed two weeks (10 working days). Employees should notify their Division Manager as far in advance as possible of any required military leave.
Pay During Military Leave
- Since an employee performing two weeks active duty for training is paid by the Military, the Company provides leaves of absence without pay.
- The employee may elect to use paid vacation for military duty.
Active Duty Emergencies
If an employee who is a member of the Armed Forces Reserves or National Guard is called into active duty during a national emergency, the employee’s regular pay will be discontinued for the full period of absence.
Other Provisions
- A military leave will have no effect upon any regular vacation to which an employee is entitled. Unless the employee elects to use paid vacation for such purposes.
- An employee who receives two weeks of military leave will be expected to take his/her vacation at a time so as to minimize the effect of his/her absence from his/her department. In any case, vacation is not to be added to the beginning or end of the reserve duty. Exceptions must be approved by the Division Manager.
- A Leave Request Form must be completed and forwarded to the person in the Company designated as the Personnel Coordinator.
