401(k) Plan

Entrance date

You may begin participation in the 401(k) plan the first month following your hire date at EDENS.

How much I can save

In 2025, you may contribute on a pre-tax basis the maximum allowable by law ($23,500 for the Calendar Year = $903.85 per pay period) plus up to $7,500 ($288.46 per pay period) “catch up” contribution if you reach the age of 50 prior to the end of the calendar year. New 401(k) catch-up provision for 60 to 63 years old increased the limit to $11,250 for 2025 ($432.70 per pay period).

Company match

EDENS provides a discretionary match for the calendar year at the rate of 100% for the first $3,000 contributed and 50% for the next $9,000 contributed, not including the “catch up” contributions.

Vesting

You are always 100% vested in your own contributions.  EDENS uses the following schedule for employer matching contribution vesting.  A year of service is defined as having worked for EDENS at least 1,000 hours during the calendar year.

Years of Service Vesting Percentage
1 Year 0%
2 Years 0%
3 Years 100%

  • Withdrawals of Elective Contributions at Age 59½
  • Loans
  • Death

Hardship withdrawals of Elective & Matching (if vested) contributions are allowed for an immediate and heavy financial need as listed below:

  • Medical expenses incurred by, or to pay for medical care for you, your spouse, or your dependents
  • The purchase of your principal residence (this does not include mortgage payments)
  • Post-secondary (typically college) tuition, and related fees, for the next 12 months for you, your spouse, or your dependents
  • The need to prevent eviction from your principal residence or the foreclosure on your mortgage of your principal residence

Borrowing against my 401(k)

You may take up to 50% of your vested balance out on loan.  The minimum loan is $1,000, maximum is $50,000.  Interest must be repaid at prime + 1%, and you are subject to a $75 loan origination fee. Repayments are made through POST-TAX payroll deductions and can be scheduled over 1 to 5 years. One loan is permitted at a time.
